alive

Though it's been over a month, I'm still alive.

I haven't used the internet nearly as much recently because the computers have been doing the dosey-do around the house.  First Ben's new computer that he's been assembling was in the living room with internet and I'd use that, but it is brand new and was out-gassing terrible and creating quite a strong smell.  (Which makes my mom sick) So then it got moved into Josh's room, but it doesn't have internet now.  So that just left the downstairs computer, which always seemed to be used when I went to use it.  Then my dad put his lap top where Ben's computer used to be and hooked it to the internet so that we'd have one more.  Well it worked SO slow and freeze after a few clicks, so I didn't want to even try updating on that for fear that I'd lose everything partway through!  Now Daddy's laptop is gone, and in its place is Ben's old computer that he's not using now that he's got his new one!  So here I am again!

As of Friday we've been under construction and reorganizing again.  It's partly my fault actually.  I was talking with Mommy about maybe going through the house with some big trash bags and collecting a bunch of throw away and give away stuff.  We've been really needing to just junk out a bunch of stuff.  In Americans standards we're still great, but really, how much stuff does one family REALLY need?  How many toys do kids REALLY have to have to be content?  Kids actually play better when they aren't overwhelmed with choices I'm figuring out.
Anyway, so my mom liked this idea and said, "Okay, let's set a date!"  So we decided on Friday, the day after thanksgiving.  She wanted to get this done before decorating for Christmas and getting out MORE stuff.  Well as we kept talking about it she kept coming up with more things that should happen also while we're doing this.  And the major one was clearing out the storage room and making in usable again.  There's a pretty good sized storage room downstairs and we hadn't quite gotten to the point where you open the door and stuff tumbles out on top of you, but we were getting pretty close.  You could hardly maneuver into the doorway.

Then Friday morning as she was getting more and more that "thinking" look on her face at breakfast, I built of the nerve to ask her what about.  She took me into Grace and Mercy's room and unloaded her idea of moving Samuel out of his curtained off corner of the family room so what we could have the whole room down there again.   So the obvious question is, where to put him.  Which is where we come to the bedroom upstairs down the hallway from my parents room, which Grace and Mercy are using.  Keep in mind that we have switched rooms around more times than I can remember as we've settled into and added on and added on to this originally 2 bedroom home.  (It's now 6 bedrooms)  Josh is no longer using his room, accept when he comes home for visits from school, but it's in the very far end of the house. (where we turned the garage into 3 bedrooms and bathroom, and connected it to the house)  The only room in a good location and obvious choice was where the girls were.  So then we thought about the idea of moving all toys out of the girl's room and combining them with the ones downstairs and put them in the family room, since we'd have the full room with Samuel out of there.

So to speed up the story, that's what we did!  So now all the younger kids are in the bedroom by my parents.  We've made that basically the sleeping room for them.  Their beds, clothes, and some books, are the only stuff that's in there besides pictures and decorations.  Samuel's on the top bunk that the girl's have been using.  The bottom bunk has been removed and Grace and Mercy have a large photon bed on the floor underneath it.  They sleep the other direction underneath the bunk, so there's plenty of space for both.  (I'll try to get a photo and post it for next time.)

So far this has worked really well, the kids thought it was great fun, the girl's especially.  They love their new bed and haven't had a problem sharing it.  (Much to my surprise.  When I was their age I moved around like crazy in my sleep)  Samuel wasn't so sure at first because he knew with the toys combined downstairs that he'd have to share more.  (He's very possessive of his stuff)  But now he's enjoying the security of being closer to Daddy and Mommy, and relaxing about the other stuff.  I think he'll sleep better not isolated, and it's been good for him.

So in the process of moving all the toys around that gave us a chance to sort though them and unjunk. (Yes, I know that's not word)  We also then rearranged the family room to accommodate the play things, the school area, the couch, and the music stuff.  (It's a big room)  After we did all that we made it all messy again by completely emptying the dreaded storage room of all it's stuff.  Then Daddy took apart the shelves in there, insulated the room, and built different shelves!  Then we continued to sort stuff to get rid of as we put everything to keep carefully and nicely arranged back into the store room.  (Oh, and during that we defrosted the deep freezer!)  That brings us to now (4 days later) and we're basically back to normal with things almost all put away.

Yikes, I should think twice next time before talking about "junking out!"
All of it needed to happen though, and things look and feel better now!

I need to get off the computer to get a few things done before Baby J. arrives.  Baby B. is also coming this afternoon, so I better get moving.
I'll try to post pictures when I'm downstairs next time.  None of our digitals are on this computer.

If you made it through all of that I commend you.  I'm not going to go back and reread all of it so forgive the spelling and grammar!
